“Ahh, the Swanna fly across the evening sky tinted orange with the setting sun.... It’s things like this-- this extraordinary beauty that makes my pure heart flutter like a free-willed Beautifly! Cheren, isn’t it that same for you?”
The buggy Gym Leader turned to me, his arms spread wide and face basking in the evening sun. I just couldn’t hold back the smile forming on my lips. Burgh had apparently gone looking for me, to offer his form of congratulations and advice for my becoming of a Gym Leader. Right now we were standing on Aspertia Lookout, and I was secretly enjoying how sidetracked my poetic friend could get.
Burgh, completely ignoring my lack of an answer, twirled around and started pacing, a look of foreign concentration on his features. “But-- one must take into account the tragic fact of Lenora’s resignation. She, as you know, was the organizer of the Unova World Leaders tournament. Without her, we now must find another to coordinate the other Leaders’ schedules in time to the event, plus, we need someone to bake the cookies..... I don’t know what we’ll do there. Oh, woe!”
I laughed, knowing that Chili, Cilan, and Cress were the best chefs in the whole of Unova.
My dramatic friend sighed lightly, as though he couldn’t be bothered with these worries. Finally, he turned to me, saying, “Well, I must be going now! Ta ta!” And with a swish of his Leavanny-crafted cape, he was down the concrete steps and out the gate faster than you can say “Bug-type.”
I sighed wearily, leaning forward on the rail of the lookout and gazing at the pinnacle of the sun peeking out from behind the distant purple mountains. Tomorrow I would start my duties as a Gym Leader. But tonight I was just another Trainer, making my way in any way that I could. Just like when I began my journey, two years back.
